STOURPORT Men's firsts hope their frost-enforced break from the English Hockey League National North Division action will have left them refreshed for Sunday's visit of lowly Lichfield (1pm).

The Staffordshire side are propping up the table and Stourport skipper Phil Lashford sees the match as a good opportunity to continue their recent good run.

Stourport's scheduled clash at Bournville last weekend fell foul of the weather.

"We'd have preferred to have played because we've won our last couple of games and were quite up for it," said Lashford.

"But hopefully we will be well prepared for Lichfield because based on our league positions we should be looking to win it."

Stourport seconds also saw their game called off. They host Nottingham at 1pm on Saturday. There was also a free afternoon for the thirds whose clash with Nottingham was postponed.

Playing later in the day, the fourths were glad they got their game with Bridgnorth on as they won 8-2 with Andy Watson scoring six and Dan Hurley and Steve Taylor also on target.

Also in action were the fifths who drew 2-2 with Worcester. The fourths and fifths clash at 11.30am on Saturday.

Stourport sixths moved clear at the top with a 4-1 victory over second-placed Edgbaston. Arthur Thomas and Neil Thomas scored two goals each.

They visit Leamington in a top v bottom clash on Saturday. The lead changed hands several times in the sevenths' 3-3 draw at Worcester. Debutant Rory Butwell, Ben Scoroca and Phil Knights scored the goals. Stourport host Solihull Blossomfield on Saturday.

Stourport under-18s have continued their quest for NA National Cup glory by beating Sutton Coldfield in round two.

They dominated proceedings to run out 7-2 winners with Max Totney bagging a brace and Rob Allen, Marc Edwards, Olly Rostron, Andrew Cavendish and Rich Drew also scoring.

Kidderminster's programme was decimated by the weather but the thirds were in action with a 1-0 win over Pershore.

A superbly-struck goal by Richard Maw was the difference between the two sides, while Daniel Griffiths, Paul Adams, Paul Rhodes and Scot Edwards also impressed. The thirds entertain mid-table Evesham on Saturday.

Chaddesley came from two goals down to beat Ludlow 3-2 with Matt Boden bagging a brace and Tom Boden also on target. They visit Standard in West Midlands Division Two on Saturday.
