BEWDLEY Town moved up to sixth in West Midlands League Premier Division after battling to an impressive 3-0 win over high-flying Gornal.
Nomadic keeper Aaron O'Malley replaced ill number one Steve Thomas between the sticks, while Keith Elliott and Graham Abriss returned from injury.
The first goal came on 43 minutes when Jamie Hart converted a penalty after Chris Hough was kicked by the Gornal keeper after accidentally clattering into him in a challenge.
Gornal came out with a vengeance after the break and it took some great goalkeeping from O'Malley to keep them at bay before Lewis Pountney scored a lucky 66th minute second when a clearance bounced in off his shin.
There was almost an element of fortune about Town's third goali n the closing stages when Pountney set up Graham Abriss for a lob depsite there being a hint of offside in the build-up.
Chairman Geoff Edwards said "We came into this match determined to get a result, battled hard and proved to be the better team on the day.
"They might argue with the ref's decisions but I feel he did an excellent job."
Bewdley travel to Pelsall Villa on Saturday with a 2.45pm kick-off.
