"In Memoriam" on November 11, was a programme of recorded music presented by a team of members, who recollected war memories, or spoke of their families' wartime experiences.
Bob Polfreman introduced Graham Kiteley, Ann Montague-Smith, Bob Drew, Terry Wilkinson, David Norman, and David Montague-Smith, who referred to various wars, including the Second World War, the Korean War, the Falklands, Suez, and conflict in Rumania and Hungary.
Members heard music by Constant Lambert and Elgar, a brief and unusual Ride of the Valkyries, Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, John Taverner's Song for Athene, Homage a Igor Stravinksy by Hakim, Arnold Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw and Sunset.
In a lighter vein were Leslie Sarony's recording of Ain't it Grand to be Bloomin' well Dead?, the theme tune from Mash, and Eric Idle singing Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
"Glorious Beethoven" will be presented at Holy Innocents community hall at 7.30pm on December 2.
