A CALL for greater Government recognition of the role private owners play in maintaining the heritage of the countryside has been made by the Country Land and Business Association.
It coincides with a report from English Heritage warning that traditional farm buildings, fundamental to the character of the countryside, are fast disappearing.
The association's director for Gloucestershire, John Mortimer, warned of the risk that many old barns, farm sheds, outhouses and stables faced dereliction.
