A CALL has gone out for Wyre Forest residents to volunteer as campaign co-ordinators for a charity raising funds for lifesaving heart research.
The Worcestershire branch of the British Heart Foundation - BHF - has made the appeal to encourage people to play an active role in campaigns such as the Valentines Appeal, which generates money to pay for BHF heart nurses in the community.
Sian Syddall, the BHF's volunteer manager for Worcestershire, said: "People from all walks of life volunteer with us but what they all have in common is a commitment to raising funds for lifesaving heart research.
"I hope that future campaign co-ordinators will help make a positive difference to our cause, by increasing the profile of the BHF in their local areas and also by raising essential fund.
"As well as helping us at BHF, volunteering can be beneficial for the volunteer too. Some people gain confidence and self-esteem as they develop new skills or use existing skills in a new setting."
No previous experience is needed to be a campaign co-ordinator. Training and support is offered at local level. Would-be volunteers should have a good knowledge of their local area. More information is available from Sian Syddall on 01905 425714.
