A MULTITUDE of sports will be on the calendar all year round at a Bromsgrove school after a multi-use play lawn was installed.
The new pitch at Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School will enable the children, who are aged from two to seven-years-old, to play sports such as football, cricket and mini-tennis during times of the year when they have traditionally been curtailed by the wet weather.
The new play area, which cost £20,000 and is located in the grounds of Avoncroft House, has been funded jointly by the school and the Parents Association.
Christopher Edwards, the headteacher of Bromsgrove School, said: "Bromsgrove School has a great sporting tradition and we find that by introducing sport at an early age we help to teach the children the benefits of a team spirit as well as health and exercise.
"The new play lawn will enable children in the Pre-Preparatory section of the school to not only play outside, even when the ground is wet, butwill also introduce a wider range of sports to this age group."
