WORCESTER'S Huntingdon Hall is bracing itself for one of the biggest gigs ever in its history when legendary Irish singer/songwriter Van Morrison performs on Sunday, December 11.
The Blues legend, famous for such hits as Brown Eyed Girl, is set to play two intimate shows at the hall's 350 seater venue on the same day.
The hall's arts director, Chris Jaeger, admitted that the show would thrust the county into the spotlight.
He said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have Van Morrison playing at Huntingdon Hall.
"Where else in the country could you experience an evening with Van in such a unique and intimate surrounding."
Van Morrison was born in Belfast in 1945 and rose to stardom in the 1960s, with the release of the seminal classic, Astral Weeks.
The album's mix of jazz, rhythm and blues and Celtic music meant it became a worldwide hit.
After a career spanning four decades, it seemed appropriate that the year 2000 saw Van returning to his roots, a musical full-circle, with The Skiffle Sessions - Live In Belfast.
The shows start at 5.30pm and 8.15pm and tickets cost £44.50.
