ST JAMES' CHURCH: The latest Children's Activity Day took place in Rous Lench last Saturday with children and helpers drawn from all four churches in the Arch benefice. Forty-five children in all, many from Harvington, took part in the planned group activities, all designed round the theme of Being Special and then, after a super-abundant tea, the company assembled in the church to take part in a sing-song and show each other the results of their various preparations. The Rev Richard Thorniley welcomed parents, thanking them and all the day's voluntary workers for their co-operation and help. The children were already asking when the next Action Day would be taking place.
SCHOOL HELPS APPEAL: Harvington First School had its own Children in Need day on Friday, raising £190 in total. The children had been invited to dress as something or someone they would like to be when grown up and this produced an imaginative variety of costumes which ranged from archaeologists to window-cleaners. For this freedom the children paid by dropping a contribution for Children in Need into a bucket, and their excitement and delight were then raised to fresh heights by the arrival in morning assembly of all the staff dressed in school uniform.
