THE recent politically motivated diarrhoeic diatribe from correspondent R Fownes conveniently overlooks one rather salient fact that those of us with less selective memories so easily recall.

It was not Mr Blair or Mr Brown that instituted the calculated dismantling of the NHS - it was the Tories very own Mrs Thatcher.

Mr Blair and Mr Brown are doing their best to undo 18 years of Conservative Party damage and not just to the NHS but to the country as a whole.

I believe they are doing a good job, so much so that the Tory party's re-arranging the Titanic's deckchairs for the new leader will not deflect them.
