BARNT Green Spartak were beaten for the first time at home this season in front of their highest crowd ever of 185.
The visitors were league-leaders Atherstone Town and they lived up to their promise with a 2-1 win. Spartak started strongly and pegged back the visitors in the opening 20 minutes.
Paul Smith, Zahoor Suliman and Jay Martin all missed chances for the home side in the first half. However, Atherstone took the lead against the run of play with a great finish from Roy Dunkley. Dunkley then doubled his tally when he flicked a near post corner into the net. Spartak made it 2-1 when Lewis Baker scored from ten yards, but the visitors hung on to claim the points. Dunkley has now scored 101 goals in less than 18 months of Midland Combination football.
