TODAY, for the second day running, I have been telephoned by Droitwich Spa High School's new computerised machine to tell me my daughter was absent from school.
So yet again - when she arrived home - all her favourite channels were blocked on TV and she was grounded too. Well you have to, don't you?
But she was adamant that she was at school and was taken aside in school and asked where were you at third period yesterday. My daughter replied 'I was here. I was in your class.'
'Oh yes, so you were' - claimed the teacher!.
On making enquiries with other students parents it appears to be a common theme - phone calls telling the parents their child was not in a lesson and some students getting more than just TV channels blocked. But they all say that they were in school at the time.
The practice is that each lesson is being taken with a register and it appears that the register is not being taken correctly so parents are getting called to say their child is missing when they are really safe in school.
Some parents worry intensely in this day and age with child murders and assaults. What some parents must go through must be horrendous.
Droitwich Spa High School's register system is a very good idea but needs to be tweaked into a near perfect solution to prevent students getting into trouble and parents going out of the mind with worry
Get the system sorted or get a different idea, as this present one is clearly not working
