The craft and produce show, held at the village hall, attracted more than 60 entries. During the morning, three WI judges viewed each item and made the awards and appropriate comments. The exhibits were generally considered to be of a high standard with Nancy Davis achieving the highest awards. She received three silver cups, one each for home produce, cooking and craft. Margaret Chance received a cup for flower arranging. All agreed that it was good experience and a worthwhile venture, learning a lot from each other's work.
President Betty Wolsey welcomed a good attendance at the AGM in the afternoon, with members given time to view the morning's exhibits. Betty Gibbs read out the group meeting and annual reports. Doreen Andrews gave the treasurer's report and handed over to Jean Brooks, who will serve as treasurer for 2006.
Thanks were expressed to our three members who had arranged the flowers at WI House during September. It was announced that the issue of a new magazine to replace the current Home and Country magazine, with a copy to each member, should be achieved by the end of November 2007.
A copy of our group photograph, taken at the 90th WI anniversary tea party, was given to each member.
Items from the morning's display, destined for the Primrose Hospice shop, are to be delivered by Freda Perry. The next meeting will be held at the village hall on December 2 and there will be a Christmas tea.
