NOT even the fog and cold could dampen a fine display as Evesham maintained top spot in the league.

The Colts' attacking ambitions were mainly thwarted by the United midfield where James Bearcroft and Bryn Tomes dominated proceedings.

Henry Woods opened the scoring when he rounded the goalkeeper to finish after Tomes had sent him clear.

The combative Tom Evans made it 2-0 after picking up the ball on the wing and taking on and beating the Churchdown defence before firing home from just inside the box.

Woods scored a third in the second half when he ran through the defence and finished after an exquisite pass from Sam Ford.

Colts pulled one back with a rasping shot that flew past the diving Leon Ballard but this only spurred Evesham on and Louis Brown should have extended the lead but his shot hit a post and Ford followed up to bury the ball into the net.

UNITED produced some of their best football of the season to warm up the spectators on a freezing morning.

Their efforts were rewarded with a comfortable victory against spirited opponents thanks to goals from Jack Lowe and Kieran Grady, who both netted twice, Martin Di Franco and Dan Canning.

Defender Albert Wall received the player of the match award.

FOR the best part of the first half, Evesham couldn't find a way past the Panthers' defence nor their athletic goalkeeper.

It needed some tenacious work in midfield by Bryn Tomes to create an opening that was flicked past the keeper by Henry Woods.

Leon Ballard produce a fine display in the Evesham goal including an excellent penalty save, while the back line of Owen Jones, Wes Burden, Andrew Powell, James Hitchman and James Coldrick, gave nothing away.

When Evesham were awarded a penalty in the second half, James Bearcroft made no mistake in extending the lead and securing the points.

Cleeve Colts Rvrs 2

NICK Remfrey rounded off an excellent Badsey display with three goals in the final five minutes to take his personal tally to five and his side into double figures.

The five-goal star opened the scoring in the fourth minute following a pass from James Schembri and Luke Richardson's run from halfway and clinical finish quickly produced a second.

Chances came thick and fast for rampant Rangers but they could only manage two more before half-time when Jonathan Bell and Adriano Richie netted.

Sandwiched in between was a Cleeve reply but Badsey were quickly back into the swing of things and goals from Richardson (2), Bell and Remfrey preceded the latter's late salvo.

Kempsey Warriors 2,

Evesham Utd U-12 B 1

UNITED were unlucky to lose Saturday's match after a battling fightback after they fell two goals behind in the second half.

Warriors struck first and were then denied a second when Tom Bennett saved superbly.

Efforts from Angus Steele and Josh Greaves were close to levelling but, when the hosts doubled their lead, Evesham had a huge mountain to climb.

However, Steele headed home a corner and fine play in midfield by Andrew Hay and Scott Andrew just couldn't save United from a defeat.

ANOTHER hard working display from the Evesham side brought a deserved victory.

Goalkeeper Francesca Meadows and defenders Kate Meadows and Teagan Gillings, though, needed to be at their best to prevent the hosts scoring.

At the opposite end, Victoria Snape and Alicia Loughlin both found the net to earn a winning reward for a fine team effort.

ZOE Mabbott and Ella Parry-Reece both netted hat-tricks as United won an action-packed contest.

Danielle Monks joined in the scoring feast to wrap up her side's tally on a morning when Lucy Rogers, Natasha Brotherton, Kelly Fowkes and substitutes Jaspreet Bassi and Hannah Lowerson all showed up well.

It wasn't all one-way traffic, though, as the visitors contributed to an exciting match that warmed up the spectators on a chilly morning.

COLTS turned up the heat on a frosty morning with a seven-goal scoring spree.

Fred Humphries opened the scoring before strikes from Nick Hill and Tom Spiers guaranteed the victory.

The Town goalkeeper was again kept busy in the second half when further goals came courtesy of Hill (2), Spiers and substitute Ed Scarrott.
