CHILDREN at St Bede's Middle School enjoyed a champion sized treat when Darren Campbell, British Olympic gold and silver medallist sprinter, showed off his skills as part of an initiative to motivate and inspire youngsters to get involved in sport.
The visit to the Holloway Lane school was organised by the Warburtons bakery at Wednesbury and Super Schools, an organisation established more than 25 years ago.
Super Schools visits schools around the country with major international athletes to promote the importance of exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle to children.
Brian Hubbard, founder of Super Schools, said: "The presence of a major sports star at the school makes a huge contribution to children's understanding of the importance of taking regular exercise, participating actively in sport and pursuing a healthy lifestyle.
"It was a brilliant day and it's because of support from businesses such as Warburtons that we're able to continue arranging such activities."
