A COUPLE of cycling enthusiasts from Hunt End are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary next month.
Brian and Winifred Gough, of Walkwood Road, tied the knot 50 years ago on December 3 and their wedding was reported in the Redditch Indicator.
Mr Gough, 70, said when they were married, friends from Beoley Cycling Club had formed an arch of bicycle wheels.
"We were keen cyclists then and have remained so - my wife even picked up a trophy for a long distance award at our club dinner this month," he said.
The couple (pictured) met in 1953 and Mr Gough served in the RAF while his wife, now 72, worked in Birmingham for a clothing manufacturer.
He said: "We met on our bikes. I lived in West Heath and she lived in King's Heath but we rode with people who lived in Redditch and we moved here in 1959 when I came out of the RAF.
Mr Gough said they had booked a cruise to celebrate the occasion but were also planning a party with their cycling club.
