ALCESTER during the Second World War and the Way its People Lived was the subject of an illustrated talk by John Bunting and Major Bob Woodfield.
The speakers' rich photographic record spanned the 1930s, through the war years until the VE Day celebrations in 1945.
These images magnificently captured the architectural and social history of wartime Alcester.
After the interval, the speakers described the town's war servicemen whose names are inscribed on the war memorial and many who have family links in Alcester today.
It was a sombre subject presented with great warmth and respect to a packed Greig Centre.
The next talk, Food for Thought, will be presented by Hector Sutherland at 8pm on Wednesday, December 14, at the Greig Centre, Alcester.
Mr Sutherland will discuss life in Elizabethan England, with particular reference to Elizabeth I's stay at Charlecote Park in 1572.
The talk will explain how high society dressed, entertained, wined and dined.
Please bring mince pies, vol-au-vents or other festive nibbles for the interval.
Members and visitors welcome.
