AN 18 year old suffered facial injuries during an attempted robbery in Batchley.
The teenager was sitting in his car in Oak Tree Avenue on Friday at about 8.30pm when he was approached by six or seven youths.
One of the group opened the driver's door and demanded money.
A struggle followed, with the offender trying to take the car keys from the ignition.
The victim managed to close the car door and the offender then smashed the driver's window before heading off towards the shops in Batchley with the others in the group.
Nothing was taken during the incident.
The victim received medical attention for minor facial injuries caused as the shattered glass.
The attacker was white, 18-19 years old, 5ft 8ins tall, of thin build and with black hair.
He was wearing a white hooded top and dark trousers.
DC Wayne Cashion said: "The victim was understandably shaken by his ordeal.
"It's believed the offender was near Batchley pond earlier the same day and we'd like to hear from anyone who can help us identify him."
