THE tenth annual festival of Bromsgrove Wesley Guild was held over two days. On one day a public tea preceded a gathering where about 80 members and friends attended. Tables were decorated with plants and flowers and they were presided over by ladies from the guild.
A CONCERT in connection with the Musical Club was to be given at the Drill Hall. The names of the principals, all well-known vocalists, were to be advertised.
AT Droitwich Petty Sessions a youth, Harry Pay, was charged with driving a horse with no lights in Hanbury. PC Cox said as soon as the defendant saw him he jumped off the cart. He told the officer he could not keep the lamp alight as the glass had come out and the socket was gone so the candle was being wedged by a piece of wood. He was fined 2s 6d.
THERE were wedding festivities in Hanbury when Sir Harry and Lady Georgina Vernon held a number of social gatherings in the village to commemorate the marriage of their son. Bowater George Hamilton Vernon married Doris Allan of Strawley. There was children's parties, a tea for ladies at Hanbury Hall and 80 cottagers had dinner at Hanbury Hall. Mr Vernon also made a gift of a load of coal to each employee on the estate.
