THREE Worcestershire companies have been chosen to champion the cause of dynamic business success in the West Midlands.

Cape Medical Services, Mainstay Group and Partitions And Ceilings Europe (PACE), have all been chosen as Champions Of Enterprise by the high-growth business start-up service Mustard.uk.com

They received their awards at the Ricoh Stadium in Coventry, after being selected by the specialist panel for their ability to achieve strong growth, innovate the way they work and create new jobs.

The trio, which boast a combined annual turnover of nearly £15m, will now become "champions" for the West Midlands and contribute to promoting the region as a centre of enterprise excellence and a perfect place to start a new high-growth business.

Kul Sanghera, project director of Mustard.uk.com, said: "This is a fantastic new approach for the area, and provides a powerful movement that will develop into an exemplar of best practice and hopefully form a hotbed of knowledge and expertise, which can be transferred to the benefit of other aspiring entrepreneurs. In particular, we will look at harnessing the expertise and experience of the companies selected in providing support to aspiring entrepreneurs.

"Companies in Worcestershire have a strong tradition for being amongst the most enterprising in the country and I'm delighted that the three businesses are represented."

Mustard.uk.com, the high growth business start-up service, is working with Advantage West Midlands and Midlands Excellence to develop the network, which will feature 25 of the most successful and innovative entrepreneurs in the region.

As part of the group, the selected firms will benefit from the best inter-trading opportunities, courses and use of the Champions logo.

"Cape Medical Services of Sansome Walk, Worcester has capped a remarkable five years in business by supplying overseas resident medical officers to BUPA, BMI, Capio and the Nuffield Hospitals Group," added Kul.

"In terms of job creation, you can't look much further than Partitions and Ceilings of Holt Heath, who beat off international competition to land a £12m PFI contract at Derby City General Hospital. Buoyed by this win, the company now employs 250 sub contractors."

Finishing the Worcestershire trio off is Mainstay Group, a national property management specialist with its headquarters at Whittington Hall. The company, which employs 100 people, has made the most of the urban regeneration boom by securing a number of high profile developments, including recent work with City Lofts.

Urban Splash, Taylor Woodrow, Persimmon and Wimpey City.

Turnover, as a result, is about to hit £5m and is set to grow even further, with the firm successfully expanding into both student accommodation and commercial property management.

"I am absolutely delighted to have been recognised as a 'Champion of Enterprise' and believe the award highlights the achievements of everyone connected with the business," explained Glyn Miles, Managing Director of Mainstay Group.

He continued: "Having already gone through the emotions and experiences of starting our own firm, it's only right that you try and put something back to new and up coming entrepreneurs and this group is an excellent way of making a contribution."
