A 78-year-old Army veteran from Worcester who lost his cap and regiment badge in the city during the Remembrance Sunday weekend has been reunited with his treasured possessions.
Eric Carnall, of Dines Green, was devastated when he realised he had left his cap somewhere in the city while shopping.
But it was handed into the lost property office at CrownGate and control room supervisor Stuart Cross was able to hand it back to its rightful owner.
Mr Carnall, a former Mayor's officer who was in the Field Regiment of the Artillery Corps for 29 years, said: "I received the badge in 1944 aged just 17 at Larkhill in Wiltshire and I have treasured it for 61 years.
"I was heart-broken when I realised I'd lost it, especially on Remembrance Sunday weekend. I can't say thank you enough to Stuart for finding it and getting in touch. I will be eternally grateful."
Although Mr Carnall did not see action in the war, he served in Italy, Palestine and Greece. The badge bears a Latin inscription which says "Everywhere where right and glory leads".
