SIR - I see that the Ledbury Hunt is now resorting to using eagles to pursue their barbaric sport. How ironic, when considering some gamekeepers have been known to illegally poison birds of prey to protect their game birds from predation?
The hunting fraternity are not exactly endearing themselves by undermining the law of the land against foxhunting and thumbing their nose at the general consensus against this form of animal cruelty.
Admittedly, the constant opposition by the unelected House of Lords did cause the Hunting Act 2004 to fall short of what was hoped. However, now that the Hunting Act is actually in place, I suppose in future this Act could be amended to close any loophole, which the hunting fraternity is presently exploiting so flagrantly.
