SIR - I would like to thank Terry James for his letter of November 2 praising the success of the one-day compost bin organised at Worcester Rugby Club by Worcestershire County Council.
The compost bin sale was indeed a roaring success and 1,500 bins were sold on the day. We'd like to thank everyone who attended and made the event so worthwhile.
The county council is committed to doing all it can to reduce the amount of household waste sent for landfill as this is better for the environment and also for council taxpayers, as it reduces the amount we have to pay in taxes.
COUNCILLOR JOHN SMITH,
Cabinet Member for Environment,
Worcestershire County Council.
