A LARGE congregation assembled in Staunton Parish Church before the service of remembrance.

Led by members of the Women's branch of Staunton and District Royal British Legion and a large contingent of the 1st Staunton and District Scouts, we walked through the churchyard to the war memorial.

Senior Warrant Officer Michael Bradbury, RAF Innsworth and a Staunton resident, read the names of those who gave their lives in two world wars from the villages of Staunton and Corse.

Winnie Brunsdon laid a wreath of poppies on behalf of the women's section of the Royal British Legion and John Luard on behalf of Staunton Parish Council.

The service continued in the church, which was full, and Canon John Evans conducted the service. The offertory was taken by four young members of the Scouts.

Roadworks are continuing along the A417 but I understand that the Hartpury section should now be open but the road between Bromsberrow and the M50 will be closed from November 28 to December 23.

A section of the road in Hartpury may possibly be closed from December 12-23.
