THE Remembrance Sunday service was well attended by members of the Powick and Callow End branch of the Royal British Legion, the Brownies, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and the public.
Held at St Peter's Church, it was conducted by The Rev. Douglas Walk and the Royal British Legion standard was carried by John Mason, escorted by Brian Charles and Neville Fairburn.
The 7th Worcester Scout Group presented the Scout standard, carried by Alex Poole (escorted by Bradley Riddick and Glenn Colton), for the Cubs, the flag was carried by James Cullam (escorted by Alex Kinsey and Sam Evans), for the Beavers Daniel Smith carried the flag (escorted by Charlie Tolley and George Counsel), for 1st Powick Brownies Lauren Kerry carried the flag (escorted by Lorna Powell and Charlotte Thompson).
The Malvern branch of WWF (UK) held a successful quiz night in Powick Parish Hall last Friday when 12 tables of four took part. The event was also supported by four teams from the National Trust (Croome Park), who also contributed to an excellent raffle. The winners were: 1 Always the Bridesmaid, 2 The Old Fogies, 3 Old Witches. Proceeds were in aid of the World Wildlife Fund.

Last Wednesday, Malvern and Worcester branch of the RSPB welcomed Alan Shepherd from Worcestershire Wildlife Trust to speak on the county's wetlands.
His first half showed areas of wildlife wetlands and the second half showed how these areas are under threat, from extensive farming, housing development, road construction, chemical pollution etc. The raffle and book stall were well supported as usual.

Congratulations to ex-Powick residents who received diplomas in higher education in adult nursing from the University of Worcester's Institute of Health and Social Care at a recent award ceremony at Worcester Cathedral. These were Derek Allsopp and Catherine Ball (nee Page), who both attended Powick Primary School, and congratulations to Kelly Fee (nee Perrins), who was awarded BSc in adult nursing.
Next Friday, November 25, a bring and buy coffee morning in aid of the NSPCC will be held at 17 Bramley Close, Colletts Green (the home of Chris and Ken Hipwell).
