POWICK suffered a disappointing loss in this top of the Worcester Saturday League premier division clash at Victoria Park.
POWICK 1, TOLLADINE SPORTS 2
Despite missing two key players, Powick could have no excuses for a hesitant start and fell behind thanks to sloppy defending from a long throw. After 20 minutes Powick finally began pass the ball with greater confidence. The equaliser came from a predatory strike from Drinkwater and despite a patchy performance, Powick went in at the break on level terms.
A poor 10-minute spell in the second half proved crucial as once again poor defending as a team cost Powick the all-important goal.
Powick were also indebted to two excellent saves from man-of-the-match Hill to keep them in the game. Having survived this period of play, once again Powick began to find their feet and slowly confidence returned to their play.
In the final 20 minutes, Tolladine were forced onto the back foot but in fairness their goal was rarely threatened.
With an important match away at Martley tomorrow (Saturday), Powick will need to show more confidence from the first whistle if they are to achieve their ambition of winning the division.
