POWICK eased through to the next round of the Katherine Rayer Trophy with a comfortable win over Malvern Radar on Sunday.

MALVERN RADAR 0, POWICK 3

Radar battled throughout but rarely threatened the Powick goal until the last 15 minutes or so.

With the home side weakened with two players failing to show, things got worse when the unfortunate Duane Willis had to go off injured after just 15 minutes and shortly afterwards Powick took the lead. Oliver Knight skipped down the wing and along the bye-line before picking out Stuart Harvey, who did enough to force the ball into the net. Neither team created a great deal for the rest of the half with Radar's best chance falling to Gary Harman, who powered a header too high from Rob Middleton's corner.

Powick were still on top with Radar failing to get much change from Phil Skilton and Andy Collard at the heart of the Powick defence, despite determined efforts from Darren Loader and Andy Bottomley.

Powick made it 2-0 on 65 minutes when the skilful Bryan Craven tricked his way into the penalty box through some weak challenges and promptly placed the ball wide of Steve Green in the Radar goal.

At the other end Powick keeper Steve Davies was called into action, having to back-pedal to deny a chip from sub Steve Harness and he was then grateful that Middleton's rocket shot was straight at him, which he saved well.

The visitors made the game safe with 10 minutes remaining when Ben Pearson broke clear and coolly slipped the ball under the advancing Green to make it 3-0.

This Sunday, Radar are at home again with Perrywood Reserves the visitors, players meet 9.45am at Victoria Park.

Powick are at home to Reality Rangers.
