Your correspondent Roger Moss (Your Letters, November 4) expressed concern about apparent land speed record attempts on Worcester Road.
Given the current record stands at 714 mph, this would appear unlikely. Even an attempt on the UK record (301 mph) would be a challenge, given the phasing of the lights in the Link and the variable nature of the road surface.
However, the coming winter will bring the annual floods on the Worcester Road towards Newland and this would present your correspondent with an opportunity to attempt the UK record on water (276 mph).
