A RESIDENT at Mowbray Nursing Home in Malvern celebrates her 102nd birthday today (Friday).
Gwendoline Buckland, who has lived there since January 1997, credits her good health and elegant complexion to an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Miss Buckland, who still follows world events on TV and reads the Telegraph without the need for glasses, was born in Bristol.
She followed in her mother's footsteps, becoming a ward sister at Bristol Royal Infirmary and later served on the committe of the Royal College of Nursing. She was also a keen hill walker and mountaineer.
