A REVOLUTIONARY new product is set to spark savings for electricity customers.
Npower, which has its headquarters in Warndon, Worcester, will be giving the device free to new customers.
The company said Electrisave is an easy-to-use, wireless monitor which gives an instant snap-shot of the energy a household is using - at any time of day or night. It has designed to help people become more energy efficient - typically saving 15 per cent on energy bills.
The device works by instantly showing:
l How much energy is costing in pence per hour.
l How much carbon dioxide is being contributed to the atmosphere.
l How much electricity each appliance in your home uses.
Customers can set up the device themselves by clipping a magnetic current sensor to their existing electricity meter's cabling.
This then transmits to a portable display, showing exactly how much energy is consumed and its cost.
Mark Montgomery, npower product manager, said: "By giving consumers the device, npower aims to help people identify areas where they are using the most energy. This will save households money on their annual bills and help the battle against climate change."
"This will help them make lifestyle changes, whether switching the lights off when leaving the room or not leaving the TV on standby while at work.
"This will not only save households money on their annual fuel bills but will also help with the battle against climate change."
