TWO Wyre Forest performers who have played man and wife on stage are celebrating after tying the knot in real life.
Professional singers and actors, Jonathan Darby and Claire Worboys, were married at St Leonard's Church in Ribbesford on Saturday, September 24.
They first met when Claire joined the Stourport Choral and Operatic Society, of which Jonathan was already a member, in 1987 to perform in My Fair Lady and they got engaged in 1992.
Since then, they have played a married couple on stage several times, including in a production of The Hired Man, which was the first performance for the Acting For Charity Theatre, of which they are both founder members.
Members of the Stourport Choral and Operatic Society, directed by Judith Standing, sang You Can't Take That Away From Me at the wedding ceremony.
They held their reception at Hadley Bowling Green and entertainment came from the Bert Firman Band, which is a 20s jazz band that the singers have both previously performed with.
Among the guests were Claire's parents, Jean and Robert Worboys, Jonathan's mother, Pat Darby and best man, Michael Nock.
The bridesmaids were Claire's sister, Beverley Fluri-Worboys, Clare Nock, Sarah Palmer and Victoria Wakeman.
Jonathan, 39, said: "It was a beautiful autumn wedding, which we had always wanted."
He added: "It was a wonderful day. It is supposed to be the happiest day of your life and it was."
Claire, 37, said: "We would like to thank all our family and friends for their love and support."
For their honeymoon, they spent two weeks in Cuba. Claire said: "It was fantastic. It was an amazing place to be."
The couple, who have lived in Bewdley for 17 years, are currently rehearsing Twelfth Night at the Waterfront Theatre in Stratford and, in December, they will be giving a series of concerts in Switzerland.
