A TELEVISION programme featuring one of Kidderminster's most reviled buildings will not be shown until the middle of next month, at the earliest.

Crown House, in the Bull Ring, will be included in Demolition, a four-part series looking at a "dirty dozen" buildings considered eyesores up and down the country.

The show was originally due to be transmitted this month on Channel 4 but has been rescheduled to be broadcast at a later date. The 12 buildings featured have all been nominated by members of the public.

Crown House has previously topped a poll of the Midlands' ugliest buildings. A group called CATCH - Campaign against the Crown House - has called for the building's demolition.

It was selected for inclusion on the programme as it received so many nominations from people in Wyre Forest.

Demolition will be presented by Kevin McCloud, who also hosts the popular Channel 4 series Grand Designs.

Meanwhile, the leaseholders of Crown House, Land Securities Trillium, have promised to spruce up the building.

In a letter to CATCH's chairman, Ken Evans, the company said it was aware of Channel 4's plans.

It went on: "In order to facilitate our ongoing investigations into the cladding and structure of the building, some cleaning of the panelling is required.

"Rather than clean patches, we will be cleaning the entire tower and podium cladding system. This will, hopefully, result in an improvement in the building's external appearance.

"Progress beyond this will be dictated by the requirements of our various occupiers, the results of our structural investigations and the freeholder's position."

The freeholder is Wyre Forest District Council.
