STOURPORT Cricket Club partnered up with Loughborough Cricket Club for a tour in Barbados, but returned without a victory from three matches.
In the first game, hosts Dover were reduced to 133 all out in their 30 overs, but the tourists did not bat well in reply and could only manage 104, with their highest player making 35. So Dover won by 29 runs.
The second match was against Barbados Defence Forces and their side, including several top class players, overwhelmed the visitors by 176 runs.
Stourport/Loughborough again bowled and fielded well, despite the hosts reaching 235-7 in 35 overs. But in reply the tourists were never in contention, despite a brave batting display against rapid, hostile bowling and the innings closed on 59 with Dave Cook top scoring.
The third game , against Welches, was reduced to 20 overs in very soggy conditions. Welches reached 143 in their innings, and in reply the tourists began well, but wickets began to fall at an alarming rate and Stourport/Loughborough were all out for 49, giving their hosts a 94-run victory.
