STREET name plates are being targeted by vandals, according to furious councillors.
The damage is running up hundreds of pounds in bills to replace them, said Liberal, Fran Oborski.
She explained: "The latest signs to get destroyed by mindless vandals are those at Barrett Close, on Offmore. This is just the latest in a steady stream of vandalism to street name plates across the district.
"Replacing each of these vandalised signs costs £183.13 at a time and the includes the replacement sign, labour and VAT."
Mrs Oborski went on: "In addition to the cost, there is also the confusion caused to visitors to the area, who cannot find where they are trying to get to because street name plates are missing, not to mention that missing signs could cause problems for emergency services."
She called on residents seeing anyone vandalising signs to report them immediately.
