ATHLETES Alex Look and Anna Bailey have stepped up their training for the UK's biggest mass participation indoor sporting event.
The duo will tackle the British Indoor Rowing Championship at Birmingham's NIA on Sunday.
Worcester's Bailey, 54, won a gold at the event last year and will be looking to repeat that success.
Hereford-based Look will strive to equal or better her silver medal from the 2004 championship.
They will be up against 3,000 other fitness enthusiasts and each must race over the Olympic regatta distance of 2,000m on Concept 2 indoor rowers in their age and weight categories.
Bailey is hoping to expand on her medal collection in the women's 50 to 54 year heavyweight category.
Racing in the women's 30 to 34 heavyweight category, Look is planning to do likewise.
The event will see the boat race squads from the Oxford and Cambridge Universities compete, as well as the full GB rowing team, including the current and up-and-coming stars seeking selection for the Beijing Olympics.
The annual championship regularly attracts thousands of competitors and spectators alike who race against themselves and the indoor rower.
