PUPILS from Pershore High triumphed in an Eyres-Monsall debating competition against Malvern.
The teenagers from Pershore High School sixth form Sam Fowles, aged 16, and Peter Everitt, 17, entered the annual event which was founded by MP Sir Michael Spicer to encourage children to debate current issues.
The two pupils, Sam, the proposer, and Peter, the seconder, attended the competition at Chase High School in Malvern. The Pershore team debated over a motion proposed by Malvern's Girl's College that Britain's future lies more with Europe, which was opposed by the boys, who then went on to win the debate.
The debating club is organised by school teacher Graham Finch whom has been running it successfully for the last ten years.
Pershore High School headteacher Clive Corbett said: "The society has been running successfully for some time with up to 30 or 40 students attending the extra curriculum activity. It seems to be one of our more popular activities. The team winning last Friday has encouraged more youngsters to take part."
