ALTHOUGH based on the classic children's fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, this film is definitely one for the grown-ups.
A little girl is retold the fairytale by her grandmother and begins to fantasise about being the red-cloaked young lady.
The film is extremely sinister and the scenes set in the magical, eerie forest will send shivers down the spine.
The scenes of men turning into wolves in the film also make disturbing viewing.
Forget all images of people growing a little bit of downy hair on their palms and faces and gaining some fangs as could be seen in dreadful werewolf comedies such as Teen Wolf.
Instead, picture grotesque wolves ripping through humans' bodies, emerging covered in blood and goo and raring to tear apart any humans that fall in their path. It's vile but tremendously effective.
The film also explores the sexual nature of such seemingly innocent fairytales.
The acting is faultless but the only disappointing aspect was the lack of extras featured on this special edition DVD.
Apart from a director's commentary and a trailer there are no behind-the-scenes secrets of this tremendous film.
