YOUNG people in Wyre Forest could have their contributions to the community rewarded in a new scheme.
Worcestershire County Council's youth service - Youthworcs - has adopted the Tryangle awards, for which nominations can be submitted in a range of categories.
Among them are bravery and personal achievement in fields such as the arts, music, sport or outdoor activities. Other categories are for good friends and carers, service to the community, citizenship, environment and personal development.
County councillor Barry Gandy, adviser to the cabinet member for young people, said: "There is a perception that young people only contribute to the fabric of our society when they are taking part in an activity organised by adults and this perception undermines the efforts of those who work off their own bat."
Nominations are welcomed from anyone involved with young people, such as parents, teachers, youth workers and sports coaches.
Everybody nominated will receive a certificate. A panel of judges will then select three people or groups of people from each of the eight categories to receive a Tryangle award.
Nomination forms are available at libraries or from Julie Bishop, who has more information, on 01905 765451.
The presentations will take place at Worcester Rugby Club.
