Badsey 0, Evesham Ladies 1

DETERMINED to maintain the winning form of the previous week, Evesham started the stronger side and good possession and short accurate passes helped them apply early pressure.

This resulted in several attempts on goal but Badsey goalkeeper Nikki Wright produced some good saves to keep the match scoreless.

As Evesham began to feel more confident the passes became longer and unfortunately less accurate and this allowed Badsey to get back into the game and produce some attacking moves of their own.

However, the Evesham defence remained strong - as it has done all season - and the first half ended goalless.

Evesham applied the pressure straight away after the restart and good passing back and across the pitch opened up the Badsey side leading to several good attacking moves down either side of the pitch.

Emma Scott and player of the match Danni Cox combined well down the right to continually feed the ball into the area and, after several failed short corner attempts, the stalemate was finally broken with a well-rehearsed routine that saw captain Vanessa Dufty slip the ball for Karen Robinson to fire past the goalkeeper.

Evesham's defenders were rarely troubled in the second half and, as the clock ticked down, they again passed well and kept possession to deny their local rivals any chance of a response.

The match ball was sponsored by Scott's Plant & Haulage.

The winners will be aiming to continue their unbeaten run when they entertain Camp Hill in their next league match at Prince Henry's High School.

Badsey, meanwhile, are at home to Kidderminster at Redditch RUFC (10.30am).
