A GROUP of fund-raisers scaled dizzy heights last week to raise more than £2,000 for a good cause.
Eighty climbers, young and old, completed the sponsored climb for the WaterAid Challenge 8,000 at the climbing wall at Sport Martley, near Worcester, on Friday.
They took in turns to scale 1,752m in five-and-a-half hours - the equivalent of reaching the peak of Himalayan mountain K2 twice - and collected £2,233.
The climb was part of a nationwide event, with 14 climbs taking place around the UK to help provide water and sanitation in the Third World as part of WaterAid Challenge 8000.
The climbing instructor at the Martley leisure centre, Neil Curri, said: "Everyone had an excellent time and we managed to complete the challenge twice over.
"We are also hoping to collect more money and reach £3,000 in the end."
