I WISH to thank the Advertiser/Messenger for supporting the public campaign to safeguard the services provided for the people of Bromsgrove at the Alexandra Hospital, and for helping to organise the public meeting held at the Artrix - an excellent venue.
The turnout was impressive with many district and county councillors present and representing all the local parties except Labour.
Why were no Labour district or county councillors present at the meeting? Do they not have any views on the threats to cut local health services to their constituents? Do they support the planned cuts? Or are they too ashamed of how the Government is decimating the NHS in North Worcestershire?
I would add that I thought the best ontributions to the debate came from ordinary residents rather than the politicians and it is such a pity that those people and more like them do not seek office as district councillors.
The Council Chamber would benefit from more people of their calibre.
