SPA pensioners are about to subsidise Pershore's lager louts.
A Droitwich councillor is proposing Wychavon gives Pershore youths free taxi tokens at weekends, to get home from Worcester, when pubs and clubs close.
The scheme costs £5,000 to set up and £10,000 a year to run.
Last year district councillors voted to save cash by stopping OAP travel tokens. Where few or no bus services existed, old folk used tokens for taxis to reach vital doctors and basic shops.
Well knowing this lack of public transport, councillors told pensioners "buy a half price bus pass" - which taxis cannot accept!
Now government is providing free bus passes for pensioners, the district wants our money to chauffeur binge drinkers.
Wychavon subsidises a swimming pool, cinema and theatre in Pershore town centre to occupy youngsters. Yet Droitwich - with four times the population and just as distant from Worcester - has nothing.
It's strange two Spa councillors voted to deprive isolated old folk of travel aid. Now it's proposed we provide free rides for all-hours boozers.
If Pershore are the chosen ones and our elderly "rent a mob", why don't these councillors represent seats there instead of Droitwich?
