OUR November meeting, held at The Boat & Railway, Stoke Works, was an illustrated talk on pub signs.
We learnt many interesting facts about our ancient pub names and the importance of hanging on to them. Alan Rose, our speaker, told us of the origins of many pub names, some dating back to the 17th century. Our next meeting will be a social evening, with food, chat and entertainment by a folk group on December 6 at 8pm. Visitors are always welcome.
