AN outing with a double purpose was organised by Betty Lucas, treasurer of the Barnt Green Day Centre.
A party of 15 was driven by volunteers to have lunch at the Holly Bush pub, Belbroughton. The location was chosen to make it possible to pick up Alice Casey, a member of the centre for many years, who, well into her 90s, was recently obliged to move from Cofton Hackett to a residential home at Belbroughton. Members found Alice her cheerful old self, although, because of its somewhat remote location, she had not been out of the home for two weeks.
The outing was also organised as a contribution to 'Make a Difference Day' (MADD) promoted by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme.
