PRESIDENT Betty Wolsey welcomed Lenchton, Redditch and Saltway members to the group meeting hosted by Stoke Prior. After the singing of Jerusalem, group co-ordinator Monica Carden also welcomed members from the many WIs incorporated in the group. Following the treasurer's report and a talk by the WI adviser, Richard Hadley was introduced to give a talk about his work as an undertaker or funeral director. He outlined all the procedures to be followed, starting with registering a death and finishing with the cremation or burial. Information was also given regarding cost, choice and arrangement of transport and other requirements for a personalised funeral. During the presentation of the serious side of his work, Mr Hadley did lighten the mood by describing some of the amusing incidents that can happen. After a question and answer session, he was thanked for his very informative and sometimes amusing presentation, and it was agreed that a donation to a charity would be made on his behalf.
Afternoon tea followed, several raffle prizes were drawn and Catherine Davidson won the favourite cup and saucer competition. Thanks were expressed to the members who carried out the catering and to Margaret Chance for her novel table arrangements.
