SPA children have been left saddened after mindless vandals targeted their school and destroyed their much-loved playhouse.

The vandals struck at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, in St Joseph's Close, on Monday November 7, when the school was closed.

The incident saw one of the children's playhouses dragged from the site before it was broken up in a nearby underpass and an attempt was made to burn it.

The playhouse was bought thanks to the help of the Parent Teacher Association at the school. Because of the cost the school will not be able to replace the vandalised equipment.

Headteacher for the school, Kate Hill, said: "This is just mindless vandalism. Our Parent Teacher Association works really hard to provide the extras for our school that our budget won't stretch to.

"They provided these playhouses to improve the play opportunities and the environment for our young children.

"Our children are sad that this has happened as they really care about our school."
