BENGEWORTH Tigers are sitting pretty at the top of the first division table after crucial victories over Wyre Wanderers and main rivals Littleton Aces.

Against the Wanderers, Gra-hame Brown had no trouble overcoming John Teare and John Buxton before recording a narrow five-set win against Doug Payne.

Bob Price notched up two wins and teamed up with Brown to win the doubles in five sets and the match 7-3.

The match against Aces ended up 8-2 but it was a lot closer than the final scoreline suggests.

Five five-set matches all went in the way of the Tigers with both Grahame and Martin Brown claiming three wins.

Also in contention are defending champions Wyre Elite who defeated both Ben-geworth Red 7-3 and Wyre Wanderers 6-4.

Matt Hartwell lost his first game of the season against Doug Payne after winning all three against Bengeworth.

After giving Elite plenty to think about, the Wanderers slumped to an 8-2 defeat against Wyre Livewyres who recorded an 8-2 triumph with Geoff Woodward and Malcolm Macfarlane both claiming a trio of wins.

Kington Bulldogs recorded their first win of the season with a 6-4 victory over Ben-geworth Purple when the doubles proved crucial and resulted in a five-set success and match win for Bulldogs.

Littleton Borg are giving the other teams in the division the run-around at the moment as they continue to improve on last season's disappointment.

Against Bengeworth Red they added another three points to their tally for the season after a 5-5 draw before easily seeing off their Blues with an 8-2 victory.
