NOW all Redditch residents are aware of the Alexandra Hospital dilemma, I would like to express my thoughts on this serious matter.
As a plumbing contracts manager for a local firm, I had the pleasure of overseeing the work at the Alex from start to finish with a team of men which were 70 per cent local plumbers.
We had the opportunity to do something for the town we were living in, to which I might add they did a wonderful job.
Then, after the final touches before the opening, to then walk down with all the official dignitaries, it gave us something to say: "Yes, we did this and made it possible for the use of all Redditch and surrounding areas."
Now as we all are aware, we are being told we do not need A&E or the maternity unit.
How ludicrous is that?
I therefore call on Jacqui Smith as the Labour MP to earn her money and put this proposal where it belongs - in the bin.
Not to leave Redditch without these vital units, the A&E for the vital needs through injury, and the maternity unit for the new born, the future of this town!
So I say Jacqui Smith, it's over to you, the ball is in your court, save it.
