LANDSCAPING work in an historic Redditch cemetery has not only improved it but will also deter youngsters from gathering there, a town councillor has said.
Councillor Carole Gandy, who represents the Headless Cross area, is delighted with the work to tidy up the Rectory Road cemetery.
And she hopes it will stop teenagers from using it as a place to meet.
Redditch Council's landscaping department recently carried out the work, which included shearing back shrubs and replacing some of the fence on the Plymouth Road side of the cemetery.
"They have taken away a lot of the shrubs which means it is now more open and less likely to attract young people to gather there," said Mrs Gandy.
"It looks altogether much nicer. You are now actually able to see a lot of the memorial stones - some of which are the oldest in Redditch."
