DROITWICH people dug deep for the chance to win a car - and helped St Richard's Hospice at the same time.
More than 250 tickets for the Worcester hospice's annual raffle were snapped up while the Honda Jazz first prize was on display at the farmers' market in Victoria Square.
Droitwich Mayor Councillor Richard Morris also took time out to help sell the tickets.
The raffle - this year supported by Startin Honda Worcester and Hewett Recruitment - was started five years ago and has proved very popular, but this is the first time such a big prize has been up for grabs.
Fund-raisers are hoping to raise around £20,000 to help the hospice's work with more than 1,550 patients each year.
Tickets can be purchased for £1 each from St Richard's Hospice shops in the area, by telephoning the fund-raising department on 01905 763963 or calling into the Startin Honda showroom.
The winning ticket will be drawn in February 2006.
