SIR - N Taylor thinks that it is wrong to object to a cathedral car park for reasons of political advantage, and Kenneth Peggrem suggests that we elected our local councillors to make decisions on our behalf not farm them out to high-charging outsiders.
I suggest that Mr Taylor looks more closely at the Labour policy he denigrates so much. Mr Peggrem is presumably referring to the ruling Tory city councillors. These don't even listen to their Tory county colleagues who promote the park- and-ride scheme.
The only thing the city Tories want is money. We know it. They know it. Everybody knows it! They chop trees down to find places, rip up paths under the pretence that they are dangerous and so on, all to find that extra row of spaces. And when they run out of things to remove on the ground, they look to the skies. They want to see a multi-storey mass of unsightly car bumpers. We know it. They know it. Everybody knows it!
Yes, we need to encourage visitors to our historic city, but they will all be able to find plenty of spaces in the car parks that have already been built. Wake up, Worcester, before it is too late!
DAVID INSULL,
Worcester.
